Today’s modern vehicles are equipped with computational, sensing, and actuating capabilities that enable the design of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). These automated vehicles have the following features to actively assist the driver in the operation of the vehicle and prevention of accidents:

  • Park assist
  • Surround/rear view cameras
  • Lane departure warning
  • Advanced braking
  • Mirror replacement
  • Collision avoidance
  • Driver monitoring

Our platform supports ADAS at two different levels. Firstly, it impacts the telemetry data by augmenting the sensors with intelligence. Secondly, AI will be used to analyze the inbound telemetry data stream in real-time by in-car systems that actively assist drivers without any external dependency on the Cloud.

For example, a camera that is treated as an image sensor will send every frame to the ADAS system to analyze the feed for certain objects. By applying AI to the camera device, it sends the frame only when a specific object or driver behavior is detected. This significantly speeds up the process while saving the CPU from processing every frame. The same principle may be applied to speech synthesis for voice controlled navigation, infotainment and other forms of telemetry data. AI-enabled sensors are the future of ADAS systems.
